In November 1974, the Vedic Sage Maharishi Mahesh Yogi visited Nepal to revive the essential Vedic teaching, which is contained in the practice of Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation and has been verified by modern scientific research to have enormous benefits for the individual and society.
During his visit, large posters were widely distributed throughout Kathmandu, featuring Maharishi’s photo and a seven-day itinerary for his Nepal visit to inspire the people of Nepal to follow their Vedic tradition, Maharishi proposed that Nepal should take responsibility for world peace. He suggested that 11,111 Vedic Pandits should practice Transcendental Meditation and perform the Rudrabhishek Yagya daily for World Peace and harmony at the highly auspicious Pashupatinath Temple – this would ensure Nepal’s permanent peace and prosperity.
Deepak Prakash Baskota, chairman of Nepal Maharishi Vedic Foundation, presented this proposal, which included a twelve-point program for Nepal’s sustainable development, to Nepal Prime Minister (2000–2001, 2006–2008) Girija Prasad Koirala.
Maharishi taught, in his brilliant talks that yoga is more than a physical discipline; it’s a way of being. He shared a presentation on how yoga can help boost mental clarity, emotional balance, and physical well-being. His insights illuminated how yoga deepens our relationship with ourselves and everyone around us, nurturing peace and love. It is through his teachings that many have learned the transformative power of yoga in everyday life.
To cater to these challenges, we have collaborated with the Nepal Maharshi Vedic Foundation.
