When you arrive at Kathmandu Airport, our guide will welcome you and take you to your hotel in Kathmandu. During this time, our guide will collect your original passport to apply for the China Group Visa, which takes at least 3 days to process. You can take a rest at the hotel or explore the nearby area. Afterward, our guide will provide a brief overview of the tour and the upcoming motorbike ride from Kathmandu to Lhasa.

Day Tour in Kathmandu

In the morning, we'll visit Kathmandu's Durbar Square, one of the three royal palace squares in the Kathmandu Valley. This square houses the Hanuman Dhoka Palace Complex, the former royal residence until the 19th century. Today, important ceremonies, including the coronation of the Nepalese monarch, still take place here. Next, we'll explore Swayambhunath, a prominent symbol in Nepal with the Buddha's painted eyes watching over those who climb its weathered stone steps. This site is a World Heritage Site and holds significant importance as one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Nepal, marking the mythical beginning of the Valley. In the afternoon, the tour group will travel to Patan City, a 15-minute drive from Kathmandu. Patan's central Durbar Square is brimming with temples, making it an architectural focal point with a higher concentration of temples per square meter than Kathmandu or Bhaktapur. You'll have the opportunity to shop around, and then we'll return to Kathmandu for an overnight stay.

Our first destination is Pashupatinath, the most significant Hindu temple in Nepal. The original structures on the site were destroyed in the 14th century by Muslim invaders, including its stone linga, but it was rebuilt by succeeding monarchs despite the challenges. Afterward, we'll visit Bouddhanath, one of the largest stupas in South Asia, serving as a focal point for Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal. This imposing white mound stands thirty-six meters tall and holds historical significance as it sits on the ancient trade route to Tibet, where Tibetan merchants would rest and offer prayers for centuries. Next, we'll explore Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a collection of pagoda and shikhara style temples surrounding a fifty-five window palace made of brick and wood. This square is a charming showcase of ancient Nepalese arts. Our team will take care of obtaining your China group visa and ensure everything is ready for tomorrow's motorbike tour. Ride from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. (137km)

Today marks the official start of the exciting motorbike tour. We'll head north, navigating the winding mountain roads to reach Syabrubesi (2,380m), a serene village nestled within Langtang National Park. As you approach the Sino-Nepal border in the valley, the road becomes rougher, especially on the winding mountain paths. Exercise caution as you enjoy the ride through this mountainous region. Rest for the night in a guesthouse in Syabrubesi.

Cross the Sino-Nepal border to Gyirong (75km)

After breakfast, we drive from Syabrubesi(2,380m) to Gyirong border. It covers 20km and takes around 45min. After you go through the customs, we will keep driving to Gyirong country (2700m) and spend one night there for a better acclimatization before moving higher to Old Tingri. In the afternoon, you may go to visit Padmasambava cave. Stay overnight in Kerung.

As we ascend through the mighty Himalayas, a captivating drama unfolds. Beyond the snowline, the vibrant forests gradually yield to towering mountain passes and breathtaking Himalayan peaks draped in enchanting snow. The asphalt road extends into boundless vistas, guiding you past the impressive Kuntanglhamo Pass (5236m). Along the way, you'll be treated to a remarkable view of the striking peak of Mt. Shishapangma (8012m) and the serene Pekutso Lake. As you approach Old Tingri (4300m), prepare to be amazed by the stunning panorama of Mt. Everest, majestically rising on the horizon. Retire for the night in a hotel in Old Tingri.

Ride from Old Tingri to EBC (70km)

After breakfast, we set out for Everest Base Camp (5200m), tracing the classic trekking route from Old Tingri to EBC. Although the gravelly and dusty road presents a small challenge, the entire scenery along the way, dominated by towering peaks of the great Himalayas, will leave you in awe. Enjoy the incredible view of Mt. Cho Oyu in the distance and traverse high passes like Lamna-La (5150m) and Pang-La (5350m). Your journey concludes as you reach Rongbuk Monastery, just a 10-minute walk from the camping site of EBC. Visit the renowned Rongbuk Monastery (5154m) and capture captivating photos of Mt. Everest with Rongbuk as the foreground. Take some time for meditation inside the cave of Tsongkhapa. At night, you'll rest in a tented camp at the foot of Mt. Everest. Tips: Due to the extreme altitude, walk slowly and avoid exerting yourself to prevent acute altitude sickness. EBC can be extremely cold at night and daybreak, so make sure to wear enough layers when enjoying the twilight of Everest. Our well-trained guide will monitor each tourist's health condition throughout the journey. Rest overnight in the tented camp or Rongbuk guesthouse.

In the morning, weather permitting, you can relish the incredible sunrise over the peak of Mt. Everest from the lodging area. Following breakfast, our journey continues northeast along the renowned Sino-Nepal Friendship Highway to Shigatse. This will be a long drive, adorned with jaw-dropping Himalayan scenery and captivating views of Shigatse. En route, you'll pass the renowned Gawu La Pass (5198m), offering breathtaking views of the top four highest peaks, including Mt. Everest (8844.43m), Cho Oyo (8201m), Lhotse (8516m), and Makalu (8463m). Upon reaching Shigatse in the afternoon, you'll visit the seat of the Panchan Lama - Tashilhunpo Monastery. Rest for the night in a hotel in Shigatse.

Drive from Shigatse to Lhasa via Gyantse (375km)

Continuing our journey from Shigatse to Lhasa, we'll pass through Gyantse, one of the most enchanting counties in Tibet. The highlight of our visit here will be the Nepali-style Kunbum Stupa inside Palkhor Monastery. Additionally, the magnificent Gyantse Fortress, perched on Zongshan Hill and overlooking the entire town, is sure to leave you in awe. If time permits, you can take a brief stroll in the old street of Gyantse town. Afterwards, we hit the road again. You'll have the opportunity to hang colorful prayer flags over the Simila Mountain pass and get a close look at the massive Karola Glacier right beside the highway. Another notable highlight is following the winding road past the turquoise Yamdrok Lake. After this long but scenic ride, we'll reach Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. Rest for the night in Lhasa.

Lhasa Day Tour: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Market

Our first destination is the Potala Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the winter residence of the Dalai Lama. As you ascend the long stone steps to the White and Red Palaces, explore the former residence of the Dalai Lama, including his meeting room and religious chamber. Discover the gilded burial stupas of past Dalai Lamas and the meditation Cave of the 33rd great king of Tibet. The panoramic view of Lhasa city and the Lhasa valley from the top of the Potala Palace will leave you breathless. After lunch, we'll proceed to the sacred Jokhang Temple, the most revered Buddhist site in Tibet. Outside the temple, witness devoted Tibetan pilgrims of all ages prostrating themselves in front of Jokhang, and observe long lines of Tibetans following the Barkhor circuit. Inside the temple, in the soft glow of butter lamps, you'll find the statue of Buddha Sakyamuni at the age of twelve, a profoundly venerated object in Tibetan Buddhism. You can also reach the top of Jokhang Temple for a panoramic view of old Lhasa city and the grand vista of the Potala Palace. Following that, we may do the kora by circling Barkhor Street with pilgrims and locals, shop for souvenirs, enjoy tasty sweet tea in a local tea house, and visit Tromzikhang, the renowned farm produce market. Rest for the night in Lhasa.

Lhasa Day Tour: Drepung Monastery,Sera Monastery

In the morning, our next destination is Drepung Monastery, one of the "great three" Gelug monasteries in Tibet, founded in 1416 by Jamyang Choge, one of Tsongkhapa's main disciples. Explore the monastery's largest kitchen and visit the nearby Buddhist Sculpture Carving workshop. In the afternoon, we'll head to Sera Monastery, another one of the "great three" Gelug monasteries in Tibet. One of the main attractions here is the Monks' debate, which takes place between 3 - 5 in the afternoon. Additionally, you can explore the Tibetan religious scripture printing house, where you can see three sand Mandalas and colorful Rock Paintings of Buddha inside the monastery. Rest for the night in Lhasa.
