Day Tour in Kathmandu
In the morning, we'll visit Kathmandu's Durbar Square, one of the three royal palace squares in the Kathmandu Valley. This square houses the Hanuman Dhoka Palace Complex, the former royal residence until the 19th century. Today, important ceremonies, including the coronation of the Nepalese monarch, still take place here. Next, we'll explore Swayambhunath, a prominent symbol in Nepal with the Buddha's painted eyes watching over those who climb its weathered stone steps. This site is a World Heritage Site and holds significant importance as one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Nepal, marking the mythical beginning of the Valley. In the afternoon, the tour group will travel to Patan City, a 15-minute drive from Kathmandu. Patan's central Durbar Square is brimming with temples, making it an architectural focal point with a higher concentration of temples per square meter than Kathmandu or Bhaktapur. You'll have the opportunity to shop around, and then we'll return to Kathmandu for an overnight stay.
Day Tour in Kathmandu
Our first destination is Pashupatinath, the most significant Hindu temple in Nepal. The original structures on the site were destroyed in the 14th century by Muslim invaders, including its stone linga, but it was rebuilt by succeeding monarchs despite the challenges. Afterward, we'll visit Bouddhanath, one of the largest stupas in South Asia, serving as a focal point for Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal. This imposing white mound stands thirty-six meters tall and holds historical significance as it sits on the ancient trade route to Tibet, where Tibetan merchants would rest and offer prayers for centuries. Next, we'll explore Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a collection of pagoda and shikhara style temples surrounding a fifty-five window palace made of brick and wood. This square is a charming showcase of ancient Nepalese arts. Our team will take care of obtaining your China group visa and ensure everything is ready for tomorrow's motorbike tour. Enjoy your overnight stay in Kathmandu.
