Bardia National Park is one of the largest national parks in the lowlands (Terai). It is located in the far western and southern parts of Nepal. It was established as one of the hunting reserves of Nepal and it received its status as a Bardia National Park in 1988. It covers an area of 968 km2.
Bardia National Park is famous for the Bengal tiger, Asian elephant, Swamp deer, Ganges River Dolphin, Smooth-coated Otter, and Blackbuck. It also has more than 513 species of birds including Globally Threatened Bengal Florican, Great Slaty Woodpecker, Great Hornbill, and Black-bellied Tern. Jeep safari, guided jungle walk, birdwatching, and Tharu culture tour are some of the popular activities that Bardia National Park has to offer.
