Limi Valley Trek

The Limi Valley Trek is the most adventurous and remote trekking in Nepal, which lies northwestern region of Humla District. Limi Valley is named for its special tribal blend of Tibetan culture, rugged terrain, and breathtaking landscapes; it is a uniquely off-the-beaten-path for trekkers who want to discover Nepal's hidden treasures. One of the best treks in the Himalayas in search of authentic trekking experiences and challenging heights.
Simikot is the district administration area for the whole of Humla. It is Far West north of Kathmandu. Fly to Nepal Gunj. It is one of the ways for Mt. Kailash and Mansarovar but the Nepali people who want to go for the pilgrim that part of Tibet have to go this way otherwise we need group visas like other people from the rest of the world. So it is an isolated area and still Sangria -la of the country. Cross over the high pass and inside the inner Himalayas with deep gorges and dry flat desert like Tibet with grassy meadows for the cattle. People look like Tibetans and speak Indo-Bramble language like Tibetan people do. Rich Buddhist couture with its separate traditions and rituals. It is land where the H.H.H. Dalai Lama had mediated once for some time.
Every three villages have their Monastery where they go to pray and celebrate the local festival. Halchi is a big village in the valleys. They make wooden bowels, which is demanded in Lasha, which is made by Maple tree. The people of Limi Valley used to trade with Tibet to Lasha and other parts of Tibet also they went to India and other parts of Nepal like the southern part and Kathmandu. They go to pilgrim when winter starts and back when the warm season starts. They got Dhrmsala, Sarnath Buddha Gaya, Lumbini, and Kathmandu too.
When everything is all right fly to Nepalgunj stay overnight at Nepalgunj and try to fly the next morning if the weather is not good wait for another day. Fly to Simikot and start the trek but stay one night there and have a hot shower till back same place for the proper shower.
Location and Accessibility:
The Valley is situated in Humla District and is one of the most remote areas of Nepal bordering Tibet (China). You can reach Simikot either by a flight from Nepalgunj or take a bus to the nearest point, and from there commence the trek into this very remote Limi Valley.
Trekking Duration:
Normal trek lasts from 16-20 days depending on your pace, the route taken, and the number of acclimatization rest days.
Spectacular Landscapes:
This is where the Karnali River sweeps through high-altitude passes, where peaks snow-capped tower overhead. The route opens up to alpine meadows, cuts the deepest gorges, and traces some picturesque villages, an ideal combination of extreme natural splendor and cultural exposure.

People living in Limi Valley are predominantly from Tibetan ancestry, which includes Tibetan Buddhists and Hindus. These people lead a lifestyle closely bound to the land; their economy relies on agriculture, animal husbandry, and trade as mainstays, and their cheerful and hospitable manner makes trekking highly rewarding.
The best times for trekking in Limi Valley are pre-monsoon (March to May) and post-monsoon (September to November). At these times, the weather is relatively stable and offers clear views, ideal for trekking in the rugged terrain of the region.
Flight to Simikot: The journey begins from Nepalgunj by air to Simikot; this flight is regarded as the entry gate for Humla and offers the spectacular Himalayas.
This trek will begin from Simikot. It will take you to other villages like Yari and Muchu, and finally to the main area of the Limi Valley, Halji, and eventually to Limi Village.
Acclimatization and Permits:
This trek, as with all high-altitude treks, requires proper acclimatization. The trek requires special permission to trek in the Humla region and to come close to the Tibetan border.
