Shivapuri Hill Hike

The Shivapuri National Park hike is a popular day hike near Kathmandu, Nepal, leading to Shivapuri
Peak (2732 meters) for panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley and surrounding mountains. The
approximately 18 – 20 km round trip takes 6 – 7 hours and involves a moderate climb, including
sections with many stone steps, passing through dense forests and the Nagi Monastery. The final
push to Shivapuri Peak rewards hikers with breathtaking, unobstructed views on a clear day.

enters the park at its gate.

involves an anti-clockwise direction for a gentle start.

• Nagi Monastery: A significant stop for spiritual practices, prayer flags, and a chance to
  rest or grab a snack before the main ascent.
• Baghdwar: A sacred site featuring a water spring, often referred to as the “Tiger Gate”.

4. Summit:

The hike is a full-day activity, lasting about 6-7 hours, and is generally considered moderate. It can
be challenging due to numerous stairs and steep ascents.

• Scenery: Expect diverse landscapes with lush forests (including pine, oak, and rhododendrons),
  picturesque streams, and stunning views of the Kathmandu Valley and snow-capped mountains.
• Wildlife: The park is a habitat for various bird species and butterflies, offering great opportunities
