Phulchwoki, also known as Fulchoki, is a beautiful hill station situated in the Lalitpur district of Nepal.
about 20 km away from the capital city of Kathmandu. At an altitude of 2782 meters above sea level, it
is the highest peak in the Kathmandu Valley and is a popular destination for nature lovers, hikers, and
adventure seekers.
The name Phulchwoki translates to "Hill of Flowers" in Nepali, and the hill is known for its diverse flora
and fauna. The trek to Phulchwoki is a steep but scenic climb, passing through dense forests,
rhododendron, and magnolia trees. The best time to visit Phulchwoki is during the spring season
(March to May) When the hill is covered with vibrant blooms of wildflowers, it is an ideal
destination for photography enthusiasts.
At the top of Phulchwoki, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding
hills, valleys, and mountains. On a clear day, one can see as far as the Himalayas, including the world's
highest peak, Mount Everest. It is an ideal location to relax and immerse oneself in nature's serenity,
away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Phulchwoki also holds cultural significance and is a popular destination for religious pilgrimages. At the
summit, visitors can find a Buddhist stupa and a Hindu shrine dedicated to Maa Durga. The hill is also
the site of the annual Phulchwoki Mela, a religious festival that takes place in February. Thousands of
devotees from Nepal and India gather here to offer prayers and make offerings to the goddess
Fulchwoki Mai, who is believed to reside on the hill.
The Phulchwoki trek is an ideal destination for day hikes or weekend getaways. The journey can take
anywhere from 3-5 hours to reach the summit, depending on one's pace and level of fitness. Visitors
are advised to wear comfortable and sturdy shoes and carry plenty of water and snacks for the trek.
